Waiting List
The Pediatric Training has reached its capacity of 24 participants.
To accommodate continued interest, we are establishing a Waiting List. If any spaces become available, individuals on the Waiting List will be contacted in the order received.
We appreciate your understanding and encourage you to join the Waiting List if you would still like the opportunity to attend.
About this Training
This 4-hour, in-person pediatric training combines focused classroom instruction with immersive, hands-on simulation designed to strengthen assessment, decision-making, and airway management skills in high-risk pediatric emergencies.
Participants rotate through three realistic pediatric simulation scenarios, including respiratory failure, infant seizures with increased ICP, and advanced pediatric airway management using both video and traditional techniques.
Training is delivered in small cohorts (maximum 12 students per session) to ensure meaningful participation, individualized instruction, and high-quality learning experiences.
The training will emphasize pediatric assessment, airway management, and critical intervention skills through progressive simulation scenarios supported by guided instruction and debriefing. Each cohort will participate in a structured lecture designed to reinforce concepts applied during simulation rotations, followed by facilitated debriefing sessions to support learning integration.
Planned Simulation Focus Areas
-
Simulation A - Pediatric Respiratory Failure (RSV / High Flow Therapy)
Providers will assess and manage a pediatric patient experiencing respiratory distress that progresses toward failure if untreated. Learners will practice suctioning techniques and initiation of high-flow oxygen therapy using ventilators and heated humidification equipment.
-
Simulation B - Infant Seizure / Increased Intracranial Pressure
Participants will evaluate an infant presenting with altered mental status, identify signs consistent with increased intracranial pressure, administer seizure management medications, and escalate care as indicated, including airway support when appropriate.
-
Simulation C - Pediatric Airway Workshop
Learners will practice pediatric airway management using both video and traditional laryngoscopy techniques, bougie-assisted intubation, and airway contamination management. Scenario review and discussion will reinforce best practices and clinical decision-making.
Course & Eligibility Information
- Open to licensed EMCT-Ps and RNs only
- 4 hours of EMS and Nursing CE credit (CAPCE / CBRN approved)
- Limited space: Maximum of 12 students per session
- Pre-registration only – NO drop-ins
- First come, first served for session time selection

Attendance Commitment
Due to the limited number of seats and the interactive nature of the simulations, participants must be committed to attending. Unfilled or unused seats directly impact the learning experience of others and limit access for additional providers.
