Current *Board Vacancies:
One Physician, active in the Practice of Emergency Medicine and/or pre-hospital administrative medical direction, recommended by a professional association of emergency physicians.
*Vice Chair, AEMS Board and Executive Committee
*One Representative from a Public Employer of Emergency Medical Care Technicians (EMCTs), from Distinct Political Subdivision with a Population of Between 50,000 and 500,000
One Representative Recommended by a Statewide Fire District Association
*One Emergency Medical Care Technician (EMCT-B), serving their employers in a predominantly non-administrative Capacity

*For AEMS Board of Govenors Vacancies:
The Vice Chair is a corporate officer and must be elected from within the Board; it is not a publicly accessible position.
Trauma Center refers to State of Arizona Designated Level 1 or Level 2 facility providing enhanced trauma care, and categorized as such.
Non-Trauma Center refers to a facility that is not a State of Arizona Designated Level 1 or Level 2 Trauma Center.
Administration means an individual that has programmatic responsibilities and budgetary authority.
If a position involves a recommendation by a professional association, we do require a letter from the association acknowledging your nomination.

++ESSENTIAL INFORMATION FOR SERVING AS AEMS REPRESENTATIVE ON STATE COMMITTEES
When AEMS/Central Region-designated vacancies arise on State EMS-related committees, the Arizona Bureau of Emergency Medical Services and Trauma System requests that AEMS recommend a nominee.
Because these appointments are made on behalf of AEMS, it is important that the individual selected not only possesses the appropriate qualifications and experience but also demonstrates a commitment to representing the interests of AEMS, maintaining communication with the organization, and providing regular updates during AEMS Board of Governors and Functional Group meetings.
The nominee selected will be expected to:
- Represent the interests of AEMS and the Central Arizona EMS Region while serving on the State committee.
- Attend State committee meetings on a regular basis.
- Provide periodic reports and updates to the AEMS Board of Governors and/or Functional Group meetings.
- Maintain communication with AEMS regarding significant committee activities and issues affecting the Central Arizona EMS Region.
**For State Committee (Central Region Nominee) Vacancies:
AEMS selects the best person based on merit AND to serve as our recommended candidate. Interested representatives are expected to be active with AEMS.
State has final approval of the candidate selected to serve in these positions.
STAB position appointed by AZDHS Director. EMS Council positions appointed by Governor.
Protocols, Medications, and Devices Committee positions appointed by the BEMSTS Medical Director.
